I don't think this has anything to do with "fontname".
You can modify MakeTeXPK to leave the files in any directory you like.
Of course you must make sure that dvips(k) will look
in the place you choose --
but with recent versions of dvipsk this is simply a matter
of modifying texmf.cnf .
Nb Unless you make some change in the setup,
you will have to give everyone permission
to access, read and write in the directory you choose.
